Our spacious multiplace
treatment chambers are designed for ultimate safety and patient comfort as
well as ease and simplicity for the operators with the
absolute
minimum in maintenance. The entire hyperbaric treatment system, including
all subsystems, components, and ancillary support systems, is designed to
meet or exceed stringent quality standards and hyperbaric engineering design
and fabrication standards for health care facilities as required by ASME/PVHO-1,
The National Fire Protection Association NFPA99, Food and Drug
Administration, Quality Register ISO 9001 and sound practices recommended by
the Undersea Hyperbaric and Medical Society (UHMS). A registered
professional engineer will design and certify your system. Several
interior and exterior color schemes are available for the customers
choosing.
Our chambers are designed with over 100 stainless steel penetrators ranging in size of 1/4” to 2”. This quantity ensures the capability to support future expansion of the treatment system. A large rectangular entryway door easily accommodates gurney and wheel chair bound patients.
Patients are pampered with
the latest state of the art entertainment system available in
a
hyperbaric environment. Each patient is provided with a selectable stereo
headset that affords the choice of no less than four channels. A video
cassette recorder system with a rear projected movie projector allows for
movie viewing. If quiet is preferred, the entertainment system can be
individually controlled to each patient’s preference.
Flooring extends from end to end and is sized in segments to be easily removed by a single person. The 1/4” thick aluminum plates are equipped with recessing handles to assist in removing. A light color bonded conductive vinyl operating room tile is installed over the deckplates that provides a bright clean appearance and gives the patients a fresh, more relaxed feeling. The tile and bonding agent exceed all off-gassing criteria for hyperbaric applications.
A
medical supply lock is provided to transfer supplies between
the inside and outside tenders. Ample shelving is designed into the chamber
to neatly store all equipment required for treatment. Lighting is achieved
without introducing electrical current into the chamber; a significant
safety factor. A state of the art environmental conditioning and
atmospheric monitoring system ensures optimum patient comfort and
maintains oxygen and carbon dioxide levels within acceptable standards. The
transfer chamber, used to transport medical personnel between the surface
and treatment depth, includes a hand wash sink, toilet and equipment to
treat two additional patients.
A closed circuit
television monitoring (CCTV) system allows for 100% monitoring of
all
patients
throughout the treatment. A wireless communication system is
installed that provides either private conversation or all hands. Secondary
and tertiary communication systems are installed that allow continuous
communication in the event of a power failure. Silencers are installed on
all air supply lines to reduce noise inside the chamber and further increase
patient comfort.
With a Gulf Coast
Hyperbarics chamber system, the highest level
of patient safety is achieved. The chamber atmosphere is constantly
monitored for proper levels of carbon dioxide and oxygen. Two Analox
oxygen and one Analox carbon dioxide monitors are provided to ensure
proper atmospheric conditions. The environmental conditioning system
maintains temperature comfort and controls humidity.
Patients
are seated in ergonomically designed, 29 inch wide chairs with
a contoured back cushion that provides optimum cervical support, lumbar
positioning and neck-dam clearance for the therapeutic oxygen hood. The
individual chairs are designed with folding armrests and retractable
footrests that provide support and elevation of the patient’s feet. The
chairs foam cushion and upholstery are not only comfortable, durable and
waterproof but their flame retardant properties meet the safety requirements
of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
Occupant safety and comfort are hallmarks of the Gulf Coast Hyperbaric chamber systems. A low-pressure (LP) air system drastically reduces manufacturing costs and eliminates the obvious risks associated with operating high pressures that exceed 3000 psi. Dual oil-less LP compressors generate 200 cubic feet of air per minute at 200 psig. Two compressors are used to provide redundancy and prevent chamber system down time during compressor maintenance. As with the compressors, multiple air storage receivers are used to provide redundancy. Each compressor is equipped with a carbon monoxide monitor, high temperature and low lubricating pressure switches that will secure the compressor if any out of parameter condition occurs.
The low pressure compressor system was selected based on it’s extensive and successful use in civilian and military hyperbaric facilities, its proven reliability, the best mean time between failures, system maintainability, and overall cost.
The expansive interior with its large rectangular entryway access door can easily accommodate seated and gurney bound patients without sacrificing space or comfort. With ample aisle room, the medical attendant can maneuver effortlessly to tend to the needs of the patients. The large multiple view ports add to the sense of spaciousness. The neutral color scheme contributes to putting the patients at ease during the treatment session. A wireless communication system allows the inside attendant to remain in constant contact with the outside attendant without hindering his/her movement within the chamber.
Therapeutic gas
is administered to the patients using the standard oral-nasal mask or
the AMRON oxygen hood, depending on the desires of the patient. Both
systems virtually eliminate breathing resistance and afford considerable
degree of movement for the patient. Patient comfort is paramount to any
chamber design.
The primary source of therapeutic breathing gas is the facility’s oxygen
system. A secondary source of oxygen, independent of the hospital system,
is provided as a back-up system. Emergency air, independent of the air
compressor system, is installed in the event of contaminated air inside the
chamber. All chamber systems include a fire suppression system that can be
activated from the operating console or from several stations inside the
chamber. The fire suppression system provides complete coverage of the
chamber interior. Hand lines are also installed that reach throughout the
entire length of the chamber. All monitoring parameters are displayed and
recorded at the console. Intravenous application can be performed with the
infusion pump located located outside and penetrated into the chamber.
Chamber control and supervision combines state of the art technology with simplicity. All chamber controls are located on the free standing operating console. The design and layout allow for just one person to completely operate the chamber from the console. The console is designed so that the seated operator has total and easy access to all critical function within arms reach. The console is designed so that the operator, when seated, can observe the chamber interior, the closed circuit television monitors, and the area adjacent the console and the chamber.

At the completion of installation, a hands-on training program is provided for the entire staff. This training includes all normal operations, emergency procedures, maintenance and participation in actual patient/staff treatment. A complete set of training booklets, operating procedures and system drawings are provided.
